DESCRIPTION
The Atomic Backland 80 is a ski touring ski designed for those who cover long distances in alpine environments and demand solid performance both on the ascent and the descent. The low weight of 870 grams per ski in the 163 cm size represents a concrete advantage on challenging elevation changes, reducing muscle fatigue accumulated over time.
Construction and geometry
The 111/79/100 mm profile places this ski in the lightweight "all-mountain" touring category: the 79 mm underfoot width guarantees precise and responsive skiing on groomed and compact snow, while the tip and tail dimensions offer sufficient surface area to float in spring powder or moderate off-piste conditions. The construction is optimized to combine longitudinal stiffness — necessary for energy transmission in turns — with torsional flexibility that forgives technical errors in variable conditions.
Use and compatibility
- Ideal for classic ski touring trips on routes with significant elevation changes
- Compatible with ISO 13992 standard ski touring bindings
- Available in multiple sizes to suit different skiing styles and body types
- Reinforced tip to resist wear during use with climbing skins and edges
The Backland 80 is aimed at those who regularly go out in the mountains and are looking for a versatile ski, capable of covering varied terrain without sacrificing a low weight in the backpack — or on their feet.
Fit
Available lengths: 156 cm. Atomic recommendations for ski touring: all-round ski about 5 cm shorter than your height, fast & light ski 5 to 10 cm shorter, freeride touring ski equal to your height or up to 5 cm longer. The shorter it is, the more agile it is in turns; the longer it is, the more stable and better it floats.
To pair with: Atomic Skin 78/80 Ski Touring Skins, Atomic Backland Tour Ski Touring Binding - Skistopper 80 mm, Atomic Backland Sport Men's Ski Touring Boot
