About Us

A passion

VERTICAL SPORT

It was 1995 when Fabio Leoni and Michele Cagol decided to open a climbing shop in Pietramurata, in the province of Trento.

They called it Vertical, and in its 60 square meters, they sold equipment for an activity that was first and foremost a passion.

Because Fabio and Michele were then two young climbers, known in the area and in the climbing community for having opened routes all over the world, for having bolted crags, for being opinion leaders and influencers before these words even existed.

From their strong passion, a business was born that today is among the most important and competent in the Garda Trentino area.

OUR STORY

From the 60 sqm store in Pietramurata in '99, the first Vertical Sport store was opened in a town that represents the heart of climbing activity: Arco. Moving there, however, we broadened our interest to the entire outdoor world, dealing with articles for all disciplines.

It was Fabio who began a collaboration with Salewa as an alpinist, and this partnership became the driving force behind the creation of the first single-brand store, also in Arco.

Later, a store dedicated solely to children for outdoor activities was inaugurated: it was the first in Italy and was a great success.

Then it was time to move to the city, and so Vertical landed in Trento with a 400 square meter space. The single-brand stores La Sportiva, Crazy Idea, Dynafit Store, Regatta Store, Karpos Store were the subsequent steps.

Vertical Sport today

The technical expertise of the founders has been complemented by the managerial skills of the new directors, Alessandro Ferrarini and Michele Fornoni.

"Although at first it was a bit complicated to reconcile an organizational management with a more, let's call it, instinctive, mountaineer-style management, in the end we found the right balance and the result we achieved is truly extraordinary."

Vertical Sport now boasts 12 stores, half of which are registered trademarks.
