With nearly fifty years of history, Wild Country's Friend series represents the technical benchmark for those seeking reliable protection in cracks.
Construction and Mechanics
The Friend 0.4 is designed for cracks between 15.5 mm and 26.5 mm, placing it in the small to medium range where precise placement is essential. The mechanism is based on four independent aluminum alloy cams that, thanks to the constant friction angle principle, automatically adapt to rock irregularities, distributing the load uniformly. The rigid steel stem ensures shock resistance and facilitates placement in deep cracks, while the metal sling instead of a cord significantly extends the device's lifespan compared to models with Dyneema triggers.
