DESCRIPTION
The SALEWA Ortles is a technical harness designed for those tackling demanding alpine environments: ski mountaineering, glacier traverses, and high-altitude mountaineering require equipment that compromises neither safety nor the overall system's lightness.
Construction and webbing technology
The Ortles' design is based on a variable-width webbing: narrower at the buckles, where the material works primarily under tension, and significantly wider in high-pressure areas—waist and leg loops—where impact force must be distributed over a larger surface area to reduce pressure peaks on the body. This approach allows material to be eliminated where it is not needed, keeping overall weight down without sacrificing performance in the event of a fall.
