The Petzl Glacier is a classic straight-shaft ice axe designed for glacier trekking and approach mountaineering on moderate snow and ice. With a length of 50 cm, it represents the most versatile size for those tackling mixed terrain between trails and hard snow, ensuring effective control both as a walking stick and a safety tool.
Technical Construction
The head is made with a specially shaped curved geometry to naturally fit the palm of the hand during walking, reducing fatigue during long ascents on slopes. The stainless steel pick and adze, with a sharpened distal edge, ensure effective penetration even on compacted transformed snow and surface ice, making self-arrest quick and safe. The lower spike allows for stable support on snowy terrain when used as a walking stick.
