DESCRIPTION
The Rock'n'Wool Headband by Ortovox is a thermal headband designed for those tackling demanding outings on snow and ice, from freeride and ski touring to high-altitude mountaineering. The double-layer construction uses two complementary materials: the 100% Merino wool outer layer provides natural insulation, moisture management, and odor control even after hours of intense activity, while the modal inner layer ensures exceptional softness against the skin, reducing chafing even under a helmet.
Why it works in alpine conditions
Merino wool is one of the few materials that actively regulates body temperature: it retains heat when temperatures drop and releases excess moisture during the most intense efforts, avoiding the classic "wet-cold" effect that characterizes low-quality synthetics. This thermoregulating ability makes it particularly suitable for the temperature fluctuations typical of high-altitude outings, where you quickly move from a sweaty ascent to a stop exposed to the wind.
