DESCRIPTION
The KONG Slyde ALU is a rope adjuster based on the knot principle that simultaneously performs the functions of belayer, ascender, and descender, offering a compact and versatile solution for mountaineering, ice climbing, and rock progression. Unlike traditional devices, the Slyde operates by mechanically replicating the logic of the Munter hitch, with the advantage of significantly reducing impact forces transmitted to the anchor and protection system in the event of a fall.
Compatibility and Construction
The body is made of anodized aluminum alloy, ensuring lightness and corrosion resistance in humid or glacial environments. The internal geometry is calibrated to work with ropes with diameters between 9 mm and 10 mm, covering the range of half ropes, twin ropes, and smaller diameter single ropes most common in technical mountaineering.
Modular System and Adaptability
One of the most interesting aspects of the Slyde ALU is its configurability: users can independently build their own progression or belay system by choosing the connection and configuration most suitable for the type of terrain, the nature of the rope, and the progression technique adopted. This makes it particularly suitable in contexts where versatility is a priority, such as alpine climbing or mixed route excursions, where the same device can quickly switch from belaying at the anchor to ascending for partner rescue.
