DESCRIPTION
The Alien X #7/8 by FIXE is the sixth generation of one of the most iconic micro-friends in climbing history, with its first patent dating back to 1986 in Colorado. This active protection device was created to operate in small cracks where traditional friends cannot find purchase, maintaining the original DNA of the project but with significant technical updates.
Technology and materials
The cams feature the new X-grip texture, a textured surface that increases friction and improves grip on rock compared to previous generations, reducing the risk of slipping even on compact granite or sandstone. The body and cams are made of high-strength aluminum alloy, processed with precision finishes that ensure a smooth and reliable sliding mechanism even after intensive use. The flexible stem made of harmonic steel absorbs dynamic stresses and allows the friend to be placed even in cracks with an irregular or slightly curved path.
Size and field of use
The #7/8 size is in the small to medium range of the Alien X series, ideal for thin cracks on multi-pitch routes, big walls, or slabs where precise protection is crucial. The availability in six sizes allows for building a progressive rack with no gaps in coverage. Lightweight and compact, it integrates without adding weight to the harness even on the most demanding outings.
