DESCRIPTION
The CAMP 12 cm Fixed Ring Piton is a rock piton made of carbon steel, a material deliberately softer than chrome-molybdenum alloys. This characteristic allows the blade to conform to the geometry of the crack without exerting excessive pressure on the surrounding rock, preserving its integrity. This is a concrete advantage on limestone, dolomite, and other more fragile stone formations, where harder steel pitons could cause chipping or unwanted widening of the crack.
Geometry and Application
With a length of 12 cm, this piton is designed for thin and shallow cracks, where a blade capable of controlled penetration even in narrow passages is needed. The integrated fixed ring eliminates the need for additional carabiners for direct quickdraws, simplifying the setup of belay stations or protection on traditional and new routes.
