DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Offset Stopper #10 are aluminum alloy nuts with an asymmetrical geometry, designed to fit into irregular cracks and pin scars where traditional nuts struggle to find purchase. The offset shape creates two distinct contact profiles on the same wedge, increasing the chances of placement in uneven rock formations.
Geometry and Construction
The asymmetrical cross-section of the wedge allows for the use of both the narrow and wider profiles depending on the orientation, effectively doubling the placement options compared to a standard nut. The body is anodized with the size's reference color, compatible with the Black Diamond classic Stopper color system, making immediate identification of the correct piece during ascent. The steel cable is sized to withstand typical fall loads in sport and traditional climbing.
Use and Compatibility
The number 10 covers one of the largest sizes in the Offset series, designed for medium-to-large cracks with variable geometry. It is particularly effective on traditional climbing routes with sculpted rock or on limestone terrains where erosion creates asymmetrical cavities that are difficult to protect. It pairs directly with standard carabiners and can be used in combination with classic Stoppers to complete a versatile rack. The anodization ensures resistance to oxidation and long life even with continuous use at the crag or in the mountains.
