The BEAL ICE Line 8.1mm is an extremely thin diameter ice and mixed climbing rope, designed for those seeking extreme lightness without sacrificing versatility. With its 8.1 mm diameter and 60-meter length, it falls into a rarely achieved hybrid category: it can be used as both a half rope and a twin rope, offering true operational flexibility in alpine and ice climbing contexts.
Technology and Construction
The technical core of the ICE Line is BEAL's proprietary UNICORE technology, which fuses the sheath to the core through a thermofusion process. The result is a compact structure that resists "sheath slippage" along the profile, keeping the rope uniform even after repeated falls. This translates to a very low impact force and exceptional glide through quickdraws and belay plates, a crucial feature during rappels on icy routes.
