DESCRIPTION
The Atomic Backland 85 LTD SET is a complete ski touring kit that includes skis, bindings, and pre-mounted climbing skins, designed for those who want to get into backcountry skiing or simplify equipment preparation without compromising on technical performance.
Construction and geometry
The Backland 85 skis feature a waist width of 85 mm, which effectively balances uphill power on transformed snow and stability on open slopes during descents. The profile is rocker in the tip and tail with a cambered center section, ensuring flotation in fresh snow and precise grip on hard snow turns. The Paulownia-Maple wood core keeps the weight down while offering a lively, responsive feel underfoot. Thanks to the Titanal Sandwich construction, the skis transmit forces evenly, reducing vibrations at high speeds.
Complete set: bindings and skins included
- Factory-pre-mounted Atomic Shift MNC bindings (or compatible bindings from the Backland range) for optimal mounting point calibration
- Custom-cut climbing skins for the skis included in the set, with a fiber mix that ensures grip on steep slopes and glide on flat terrain
- Tip-to-tail attachment system compatible with the rocker geometry for full coverage of the gliding surface
This setup is ideal for high-altitude outings on variable terrain: the 85 mm waist allows you to tackle both powder days off-piste and traverses on compact spring snow without having to change equipment. The SET format reduces setup time and ensures certified compatibility between all components.
Fit
Available lengths: 149, 157, 172 cm. Atomic's ski touring recommendations: all-round skis approximately 5 cm shorter than your height, fast & light skis 5 to 10 cm shorter, freeride touring skis equal to your height or up to 5 cm longer. Shorter skis are more agile when turning around; longer skis are more stable and float better.
Pair with: Atomic Hawx Prime XTD 120 GW Men's Freetouring Boot, Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD 115 BOA Women's Freetouring Boot, Atomic Backland Ski Touring Helmet - White
