DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Slinger Leash is an elastic tether system specifically designed for mountaineering ice axes, intended for those who want to keep their tool always at hand without resorting to a traditional wrist leash. Derived from the popular Spinner Leash, this simplified and lightweight version solves one of the most concrete problems in technical mountaineering: losing the ice axe during maneuvers on mixed or icy terrain.
Construction and Components
The system is composed of stretchable elastic webbing, which absorbs sudden jerks and ensures freedom of movement during use, and an integrated locking carabiner — an upgrade from previous versions — that allows the leash to be securely attached to both the head and the spike of the ice axe, adapting to different models and configurations. The elastic geometry of the webbing has been lengthened compared to its predecessor, improving ergonomics on the wall.
Use and Compatibility
- Suitable for technical and classic ice axes with a carabiner-compatible head or spike
- Lightweight and compact construction, ideal for reducing the overall weight of equipment
- Does not restrict the wrist, allowing quick transitions between ice axe use and other maneuvers
- Perfect for ice climbing, mixed climbing, and consolidated snow
A concrete technical solution for those seeking passive security on the ice axe without sacrificing fluidity of movement and speed of action.
