DESCRIPTION
The Dolomitic towers of San Martino di Castrozza are among the most demanding walls in the Southern Alps: aggressive rock surfaces, sudden temperature changes, and days that stretch well beyond forecasts. The Ortovox Pala Hooded Jacket was developed precisely for this environment, as part of the MERINO SHIELD TEC line designed for long alpine rock routes.
Construction and materials
The Merino Shield Tec outer fabric combines the natural thermoregulation of merino wool with a technical, highly abrasion-resistant weave, designed to withstand prolonged contact with rock without degrading quickly. The merino component ensures active moisture management and maintains its thermal properties even when the garment is partially wet, a feature that pure synthetic fabrics do not replicate with the same effectiveness.
