DESCRIPTION
The Edelrid Pinch is an assisted-braking belay device that redefines the concept of versatility in crag belaying, multi-pitch climbing, and rope access. Its most distinctive feature is the ability to be attached directly to the harness belay carabiner, without the need for a dedicated additional carabiner — an unprecedented solution in the landscape of latest-generation belay devices.
Braking mechanism and operation
The Pinch system integrates active assisted braking: in the event of a fall or if the rope is not properly engaged in the device, the mechanism intervenes automatically, locking the rope. To feed rope in a controlled manner — for example, during the belay of a partner — it is sufficient to apply light pressure on the Pinch lever, which releases the rope flow with an intuitive and precise gesture. This approach significantly reduces the mental and physical effort in managing dynamic situations.
Compatibility and use
- Compatible with single ropes with a diameter between 8.9 mm and 10.5 mm
- Suitable for sport climbing, multi-pitch climbing, and rope access
- Built in high-strength aluminum to keep the weight down without compromising robustness
- Certified according to EN 15151-1 standards for assisted-braking belay devices
Thanks to its compact design and direct attachment system, the Pinch proves particularly effective when you want to minimize the number of components on the harness, while maintaining full rope control at every stage of the ascent.
