DESCRIPTION
The EDELRID Pinch is an assisted-braking belay device that redefines versatility in belaying for sport climbing, multi-pitch routes, and rope access contexts. Its most distinctive feature is the ability to be attached directly to the harness carabiner, without the need for an additional dedicated carabiner—an unprecedented solution among the latest generation of belay devices.
Braking Mechanism and Operation
The Pinch system incorporates active assisted braking: in the event of a fall or if the device is not held, the mechanism intervenes autonomously to block the rope. To pay out rope in a controlled manner—for example, when lowering a climbing partner—it is sufficient to apply light pressure on the Pinch's lever, which releases the rope flow with an intuitive and precise motion. This approach significantly reduces the mental and physical effort required to manage dynamic situations.
Compatibility and Use
- Compatible with single ropes with a diameter between 8.9 mm and 10.5 mm
- Suitable for sport climbing, multi-pitch routes, and rope access
- Constructed from high-strength aluminum to keep weight down without compromising robustness
- Certified according to EN 15151-1 standards for assisted-braking belay devices
