DESCRIPTION
The Kong Panic System 30 cm is a semi-rigid webbing connection system designed to facilitate clipping into hard-to-reach protection during sport climbing. The combination of materials and geometry makes it a functional tool in situations where a traditional clip would be awkward or ineffective.
Construction and technology
The system consists of a tubular webbing with an internal flexible core that allows the desired curvature to be shaped and maintained, enabling the connector to be precisely directed towards bolts positioned laterally or in unusual positions. The upper carabiner is a modified version of Kong's Ergo Wire, equipped with a dedicated mechanism that keeps the gate open during the clipping phase, making the operation manageable even with one hand or in precarious positions. The locking is automatic, ensuring the correct closing of the gate once clipping is completed without additional manual intervention.
Main features
- Semi-rigid webbing length: 30 cm
- Tubular webbing with a shapeable internal flexible rod
- Upper connector: modified Ergo Wire with an open-maintenance gate
- Automatic gate locking at the end of clipping
- Compatible with use in crags and on sport routes
The Panic System proves particularly useful on critical sections where the bolt is far from the natural path of progression: the controlled rigidity of the webbing eliminates the need to physically bring the connector close to the clip, reducing energy expenditure and the risk of accidental drops during the maneuver.
