DESCRIPTION
The Beal BE Safe is an HMS locking carabiner with a screw lock specifically designed for belaying, both with a belay device and with tubular devices. Its wide and asymmetrical geometry allows the simultaneous passage of two ropes — a fundamental feature in half-rope or rescue situations — without the risk of overlapping that could compromise braking in the event of a fall.
Geometry and rope movement
The rope contact area has been optimized to reduce side friction, ensuring a smooth lower and precise control during belaying. The profile of the major bar follows a progressive curvature that prevents accidental rope crossing, improving the responsiveness of the system even with gloves or in wet conditions. The screw lock offers a reliable manual closure, suitable for systematic use on equipped anchors or lower-off rings.
