DESCRIPTION
The Kong Slyde ALU is a knot-based rope regulator that simultaneously serves as a belay, locking, and rappelling device, offering a compact and versatile solution for mountaineering, ice climbing, and rock progression. Unlike traditional devices, the Slyde operates by mechanically reproducing the logic of the half hitch knot, with the advantage of significantly reducing the impact forces transmitted to the anchor and the protection system in the event of a fall.
Compatibility and construction
The body is made of anodized aluminum alloy, which guarantees lightness and corrosion resistance in humid or glacial environments. The internal geometry is calibrated to work with ropes with a diameter between 9 mm and 10 mm, covering the range of half ropes, twin ropes, and single ropes of smaller diameter most widely used in technical mountaineering.
Modular system and adaptability
One of the most interesting aspects of the Slyde ALU is its configurability: users can independently build their own progression or belay system by choosing the connection and configuration best suited to the type of terrain, the nature of the rope, and the progression technique adopted. This makes it particularly suitable for contexts where versatility is a priority, such as alpine rope teams or mixed route outings, where the same device can quickly switch from a belay function at the anchor to a locking function for retrieving a partner.
