The Beal ICE Line 8.1mm is an ultra-thin diameter ice and mixed climbing rope, designed for those seeking extreme lightness without compromising on versatility. With its 8.1 mm diameter and a length of 60 meters, it sits in a rarely reached hybrid category: it can be used both as a half rope and as a twin rope, offering real operational flexibility in alpine and ice contexts.
Technology and construction
The technical heart of the ICE Line is Beal's proprietary UNICORE technology, which fuses the sheath with the core through a thermo-fusion process. The result is a compact structure that resists the formation of "sleeves" along the profile, keeping the rope uniform even after repeated falls. This translates into a very low impact force and exceptional smoothness through quickdraws and screw eyes, a decisive feature during rappels on icy routes.
