DESCRIPTION
The Ortovox Free Rider 28 is a 28-litre freeride and ski touring backpack designed to keep the load low and close to the back, reducing the pendulum effect during off-piste descents. Its compact profile and flat shape make it ideal when wearing a helmet and tackling steep slopes where every centimetre of stability counts.
Carrying system and fit
The CLASP FLEX BELT abdominal closure system uses a flat elastic belt that adapts to torso movements without restricting breathing or interfering with ski harnesses. The soft, anatomical back pads wrap around the back over the entire contact surface, distributing the weight evenly even when the backpack is heavy. The backpack is designed to accommodate a back protector, compatible with Ortovox Litric series back protectors, for those who want to add protection without changing backpacks.
Technical features for freeriding
- 28-litre capacity with front book-style access to quickly reach safety equipment
- Dedicated and accessible pocket for shovel, probe and avalanche transceiver with internal separation from the clothing compartment
- Attachment for A-frame or parallel ski carrying and ice axe support
- Front pocket with integrated organizer and key clip
- Abrasion-resistant outer material for winter conditions
- Designed for a hydration bladder up to 3 litres
A practical choice for those who alternate days of steep powder with high-altitude ski touring, looking for a backpack that is never felt on the shoulders when skiing gets challenging.
