DESCRIPTION
The Dynafit Blacklight 88 Flex 90 is a ski touring ski designed for those who don't want to compromise on downhill performance, even on the most demanding outings. With a waist width of 88 mm underfoot, it falls into the intermediate category: versatile enough for transformed snow and light off-piste, precise enough for steep slopes where grip matters.
Construction and Materials
The core of the ski is a paulownia wood core, chosen for its weight/stiffness ratio, among the best in ski touring. This is complemented by a triaxial carbon top reinforcement, which distributes stress along three axes and ensures high torsional stability without adding unnecessary grams. The result is a ski with a contained weight that is noticeable on long ascents, but with a torsional response comparable to much heavier freeride skis.
Flex and Downhill Performance
The Flex Index 90 — slightly higher than previous versions of the Blacklight line — is designed for technical skiers with a more aggressive style. It responds well at high speeds, maintains its line on hard snow, and doesn't chatter over bumps thanks to the combination of paulownia and carbon, which absorbs vibrations without softening precision. The geometry remains ascent-oriented, making every single gram justified on challenging terrain with high cumulative elevation gain.
