DESCRIPTION
The Atomic Backland 86 SL W is a women's ski touring ski designed for those who do not want to compromise between lightness on the ascent and performance on the descent. With a tip width of 86 mm, it is positioned in the all-mountain touring range, capable of handling both firm snow on the slopes and a few centimeters of fresh powder off-piste.
Construction and materials
Atomic has reinterpreted the Backland structure with a sustainability-oriented approach without compromising performance. The poplar wood sandwich sidewall guarantees high torsional stiffness, essential for precise edge hold on descents, while the tip-tail geometry reduces the overall weight without weakening the ski at critical points. The construction uses environmentally friendly materials, in line with the responsible life cycle program developed by Atomic for the Backland range.
Handling and use
- Medium carving radius suitable for clean turns on groomed snow but manageable even on uneven terrain
- Low weight that makes the ascent less strenuous during long outings
- Compatibility with pin and frame bindings to adapt to different setups
- Geometry specific to female morphology, with an optimized mounting point
It is the right choice for the ski tourer who covers significant elevation gain and demands a responsive and precise ski even on the most demanding descents, without dragging overweight skis during the ascent.
Fit
Available lengths: 165 cm. Atomic recommendations for ski touring: all-round skis about 5 cm shorter than your height, fast & light skis 5 to 10 cm shorter, freeride touring skis equal to your height or up to 5 cm longer. The shorter it is, the more agile it is when turning around; the longer it is, the more stable and buoyant it is.
To pair with: Atomic Hybrid Skin 85/86 Ski Touring Skins, Atomic Backland Tour Ski Touring Binding - Skistopper 90 mm, Atomic Backland Pro SL Women's Ski Touring Boot
