DESCRIPTION
The Salewa Atlas III is a 3-person dome tent designed for those tackling alpine treks and high-altitude trips with a close eye on pack weight and compactness. With a weight of just 3.2 kg, it falls into the ultralight category for group tents, while offering enough internal capacity for three people.
Structure and weather protection
The dome geometry ensures good structural stability even in sustained wind conditions typical of high-altitude alpine environments. The outer fly ensures water and snow resistance, while the panel stitching and water-repellent fabric treatment provide effective protection in prolonged bad weather. The crossed-arch structure distributes tension evenly, reducing the risk of deformation under load.
Portability and use in alpine environments
Once packed away, the Atlas III reaches minimally compact dimensions, compatible with multi-day trekking backpacks without sacrificing valuable space for technical clothing and equipment. This balance between low weight, 3-person capacity, and weather resistance makes it a practical solution for high-altitude bivouacs, alpine traverses, or hut-to-hut trips where accommodation is not guaranteed.
