DESCRIPTION
The CAMP G Air Down is a technical ski touring glove designed to tackle the most extreme winter conditions, where thermal protection cannot be compromised, yet hands must remain agile and responsive. It emerges as a concrete answer to one of the most common challenges in the mountains: mittens insulate better but hinder any fine operations. The G Air Down resolves this conflict with a targeted constructive approach.
Insulation and construction
The most distinctive feature is the double layer of padding on the back of the hand, the area most exposed to wind and cold during progression. This solution concentrates down where it's truly needed, ensuring high thermal efficiency without uniformly weighting down the glove. The result is an asymmetric insulation profile that preserves dexterity on the palm and fingers, allowing you to handle carabiners, closures, GPS, and poles without having to remove the glove.
When to use it
- Days with very low temperatures during ski touring or winter mountaineering outings
- Situations where it's necessary to alternate phases of intense movement with prolonged stops in the cold
- Contexts where manual precision is essential and the use of a mitten would be too restrictive
The G Air Down occupies a precise position in the hierarchy of CAMP technical gloves: warmer than a standard softshell glove, more functional than a mitten, suitable for those seeking a single versatile glove for the most demanding winter conditions.
