DESCRIPTION
The Wild Country 15mm nylon sling, 60cm long, is an essential accessory for upward progression on a rock face and for building anchors. Compared to alternatives made of Dyneema or other high-tenacity fibers, nylon offers more dynamic behavior under load: it better absorbs impact energy due to its intrinsic elasticity, reducing stress transmitted to anchors and the entire safety system.
Why choose nylon
In situations where friction or the sling sliding over edges or carabiners is likely, nylon guarantees superior resistance to heat from friction compared to Dyneema, which can weaken rapidly due to thermal effects. The 15mm width ensures an excellent grip even when handling with gloves or wet hands, while the 60cm length makes it suitable for creating compact connection loops or extending protection in situations with slight rope deviation.
Handling and durability
- The nylon fabric unfurls and untangles easily, even after prolonged compression in a backpack, unlike Dyneema fibers which tend to retain creases
- High durability over time, with good abrasion resistance on rock
- Compatible for use as a sewn loop for alpine draws, building traditional anchors, and extending protection
A reliable and versatile choice for those who practice trad climbing, mountaineering, or mountain routes where material robustness and ease of management make a difference.
