DESCRIPTION
The Petzl CAPTIV positioning bar is an insert that integrates into screw-lock carabiners to optimize loading and reduce operational risks during work at height. Its purpose is precise: to keep the carabiner correctly oriented relative to the anchor point, ensuring that stress is always applied along the major axis, the one with the highest strength.
Technical Function and Safety
Inserted into the carabiner, the CAPTIV prevents accidental flipping of the connector and makes it integral with the belay device or lanyard, eliminating the risk of the carabiner rotating and working on the minor axis or the gate. This aspect is critical in rescue situations, rope access, and climbing progression, where the geometry of the connection system cannot be left to chance.
Compatibility
The CAPTIV bar is designed to work with a specific range of Petzl carabiners:
- OK, Am'D, Am'D PIN-LOCK
- WILLIAM, OXAN, VULCAN
- Bm'D and the ROLLCLIP A pulley carabiner
Before purchasing, it is essential to check that your carabiner is on this compatibility list: the CAPTIV is not a universal accessory, but a component designed for precise pairings that guarantee its correct functioning.
