DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Bongo is a rock hammer designed for those who practice aid climbing, route setting, and piton removal on alpine terrain. Its geometry is the result of a compromise between low weight and technical functionality on the wall.
Construction and Materials
The curved head is not just an aesthetic detail: the curvature is optimized to facilitate piton removal, allowing for more effective leverage even in awkward positions. The head is drilled to directly connect a piton removal chain, keeping the tool attached to the harness during delicate operations. The rubber handle actively absorbs vibrations transmitted from impacts, reducing hand fatigue during prolonged piton placement or removal sessions.
Functional Details
- The drilled handle allows for the insertion of a cord or quickdraw for secure transport and retention in case of accidental drops
- The curved head optimizes the impact angle for piton removal
- The hole on the head is compatible with standard piton removal chains
- Anti-vibration rubber grip for prolonged use
The tool is suitable for both equipping new routes and maintaining existing ones. The combination of a shock-absorbing grip and a functional head makes it a solid choice for those who regularly work with rock pitons on alpine terrain or crags.
