DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Glacier is an ice axe designed for glacier mountaineering, intended for those tackling hard snow traverses, glacial ascents, and mixed terrain of medium difficulty. Lightweight and reliable, it is an essential technical tool for both high-altitude hiking and classic mountaineering trips.
Construction and Materials
The head is made of high-strength steel, ensuring precise and secure anchoring on compact snow and ice, while maintaining performance over time thanks to excellent edge retention. The anodized aluminum shaft offers structural rigidity while minimizing the overall weight of the tool, making it a concrete choice for those who want to optimize their backpack load without sacrificing effectiveness. The ergonomic grip promotes a stable hold even with thick gloves or in intense cold conditions.
Key Technical Features
- High-quality steel blade for reliable anchors on hard snow and ice
- Anodized aluminum shaft for the right balance between lightness and robustness
- Contoured grip compatible with mountaineering gloves
- CE EN 13089 certification as a Category T technical tool
- Available in multiple lengths to adapt to morphology and usage technique
The Petzl Glacier is positioned as a benchmark for those approaching glacier mountaineering or traversing routes with persistent snowfields, where the ice axe is primarily used as support and a safety brake during ascents or descents.
