DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Laser Speed Light is a tubular ice screw designed for technical mountaineering where every gram counts. The structure combines an aluminum tube with a steel tip, a construction choice that reduces overall weight while maintaining the mechanical strength necessary for anchoring on ice.
Construction and Weight
Thanks to the aluminum-steel combination, the Laser Speed Light is among the lightest ice screws available on the market, designed specifically for those who want to reduce the weight of their rack without sacrificing reliable protection on mixed and alpine ice. The integrated foldable crank is one of the most significant technical features: it deploys directly from the screw and offers an optimized lever arm that allows the screw to be quickly screwed in and removed even with gloves, reducing belay times on exposed terrain.
Quick Identification and Available Sizes
The color-coding system allows for immediate distinction of different lengths without having to read markings on the metal, a concrete advantage when operating with cold hands or in low visibility conditions. This ice screw is suitable for classic alpine terrain, speed ice climbing, and ice climbing competitions where the lightness of individual gear makes a difference in the overall progression of the climbing party.
