DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Pick Protector is a pick protector for technical ice axes and ice tools, designed to ensure safe transport and storage of ice climbing equipment. Made from translucent TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), this material offers the right flexibility to adapt to different geometries, while maintaining sufficient strength to protect both the pick of the tool and the person handling it during approaches or backpack transport.
Compatibility and adjustment
The fastening system is quickly adjustable, allowing the protector to be attached and removed in a few seconds, even with gloves on. The universal shape ensures compatibility with the vast majority of ice tools and technical ice axes on the market, including use with the Black Diamond Whippet, the ski pole accessory with integrated pick for ski touring and ski touring.
When and why to use it
Covering the pick during transport is not just a matter of personal safety: it also preserves the edge of the pick, often made of high-hardness tempered steel, from accidental impacts that could compromise its performance on ice. A simple but essential detail for those transporting ice tools off the wall, in a cable car, shuttle, or simply in a car.
