The positioning system integrates GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo, with support for Multi-Band technology ensuring accurate signal acquisition even in challenging environments like urban canyons, dense forests, or mountain valleys.
Battery life and connectivity
One of the distinctive features of the Edge 1040 is its 35-hour battery life in standard GPS mode, sufficient for even the longest gran fondos or multi-day bikepacking trips without needing to recharge. Compatibility with ANT+ and Bluetooth sensors allows connection to heart rate monitors, power meters, and cadence and speed sensors. Thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity, activities are automatically synced with Garmin Connect upon returning home.

- Advanced cycling metrics: Training Status, Body Battery, estimated VO2max, and anaerobic training effect detection
- Turn-by-turn navigation with preloaded TopoActive maps and automatic deviation alerts
- Stamina feature to monitor energy reserves in real-time during your ride
- Compatibility with Garmin Varia Radar and other Garmin Varia platform accessories
