DESCRIPTION
The Black Crows Orb Freebird is a free touring ski built around a clear concept: to climb lightly and descend with full control on varied terrain. Its visual identity — the celebrated fluorescent yellow full suit — is instantly recognizable on the mountain, but it's the technical construction that makes the difference in the field.
Geometry and snow performance
The profile features a light and progressive rocker that ensures a stable platform on the flats during ascents, with reliable grip on the track even on compacted snow. The 90mm width at the waist places it in a versatile range, providing sufficient float on fresh or spring transformed snow, without sacrificing responsiveness on wider skis. This measurement allows it to handle both gentle high-altitude slopes and moderate off-piste without needing to change equipment.
Construction and weight
- Lightweight construction, designed to reduce muscle fatigue during long ascents
- Calibrated front and rear rocker for natural maneuverability in turns without sacrificing high-speed stability
- 90mm underfoot width, ideal for variable and mixed snow conditions
- Recognizable aesthetic with fluorescent yellow graphics, a distinctive feature of the entire Orb line
Its ideal use is for demanding free touring: long trips with significant elevation gain where uphill weight matters, but where the quality of the descent — even on untracked snow — remains a priority. A tool that demands no compromises.
