DESCRIPTION
The Salewa emergency blanket is an emergency tool designed to prevent hypothermia in critical mountain situations. Made of metallic polyester film, it reflects up to 90% of body heat back inward, ensuring effective thermal insulation even in extreme conditions of cold, wind, and rain. The material is waterproof and windproof, essential features when it comes to maintaining the stable temperature of an immobilized person after a fall, an accident, or physical exhaustion.
Technical features
- Open dimensions: 160 × 210 cm, sufficient to completely cover the body
- Lightweight for inclusion in any ski touring backpack or emergency kit
- Two-tone gold/silver surface: the gold side reflects body heat, the silver side reflects external heat (also useful in contexts of direct sun exposure)
- Disposable, compact, and foldable into a pocket-sized format
When and why to take it with you
In ski touring, waiting for rescue can last for hours, and hypothermia represents one of the fastest and most underestimated risks. Having this blanket in your backpack allows you to immediately intervene for the injured person, reducing heat loss while waiting for mountain rescue. Its lightness and compact format make it an essential element of the first aid kit for anyone who frequents the high-altitude winter environment.
