DESCRIPTION
The Beal Rando 8MM Golden DRY is an 8 mm rope designed for those moving in the mountains on mixed terrain: glacier traverses, exposed snow and ice passages, alpine excursions and ski touring in environments where a lightweight emergency rope can make the difference. It is not a sport climbing rope, but a safety tool to always carry with you at altitude.
Construction and treatment
The 8 mm diameter guarantees an optimal compromise between strength and reduced bulk. The Golden DRY treatment applied to both the sheath and the core protects the fibers from absorbing water, maintaining unchanged mechanical performance even in conditions of humidity, wet snow or ice. An untreated rope can absorb up to 50% of its weight in water, increasing the load and reducing strength: Beal's DRY treatment eliminates this risk.
Operational characteristics
- Length: 30 meters, ideal for use in a rope team on a glacier or for descending on mixed terrain
- Yellow high visibility color, recognizable even on snow and in low light conditions
- Compact construction and low weight to be carried in the backpack without penalizing the outing
- Also available in a 48 m version with marking every 12 meters to facilitate rope team management
