DESCRIPTION
The Edelrid Shield is an In-Mold climbing helmet designed for those tackling long, multi-pitch routes where the weight on the harness isn't the only weight to consider: what's on your head counts just as much. In-Mold technology fuses the polycarbonate outer shell directly with the expanded polystyrene (EPS) inner liner, creating a lightweight yet structurally solid construction capable of effectively absorbing and distributing impact energy.
Protection and certifications
The Shield is certified to EN 12492, the European standard for mountaineering and climbing helmets, which requires specific testing against side, front, and rear impacts. This peripheral coverage is essential on sport or trad routes where rock can come from any direction, not just from above.
Fit and ventilation
- Innovative closure system for precise and quick shell adjustment, even while wearing gloves
- Soft, adjustable chin strap that ensures stability without creating uncomfortable pressure during long outings
- Optimized ventilation thanks to strategically positioned vents that promote airflow over the head, reducing overheating in warm weather or on routes exposed to the sun
Its softshell construction also makes it suitable for those seeking a versatile helmet for climbing, mountaineering, and via ferrata, without sacrificing protection or comfort on the most demanding outings.
