DESCRIPTION
The Kong Large Multiuse Straight Gate is an aluminum locking carabiner with a straight-lever lock, designed to offer a wide opening and an optimized geometry for the most common uses in climbing and mountaineering. The asymmetrical D-shape is not an aesthetic choice: it structurally aligns the load along the carabiner's major axis, which has the highest strength, minimizing stress on the gate side.
Keylock system and safety in use
The Keylock system eliminates the typical hook found on traditional locking carabiners at the end of the gate: the result is a completely smooth profile that does not snag on the rope during maneuvers, nor on the bolts of the quickdraw when clipping. This design detail reduces annoying snags on the wall and makes clipping operations smoother and faster.
Construction and manufacturing quality
- Body made of aircraft-grade aluminum for the best strength-to-weight ratio
- Gloss finish with a surface treatment that facilitates visual inspection of wear over time
- Developed and produced entirely in Italy
- Tested piece by piece before being placed on the market, not by sampling
Individual inspection of each unit is one of the aspects that distinguishes Kong's production from minimum regulatory standards. For those looking for a reliable multiuse carabiner, with a smooth gate and generous opening, the Large Multiuse Straight Gate represents a solid choice for both sport climbing and technical vertical applications.
