DESCRIPTION
The Salewa Ortles Curved Lever Lock Carabiner is a technical connector developed for sport and alpine climbing, where speed and safety when clipping the rope make the difference between a managed fall and a critical situation. The curved lever is not a simple aesthetic choice: the curvature facilitates one-handed rope insertion, reducing clipping times even in situations of physical stress or with tired fingers.
Ergonomic design and safety
The lever geometry integrates a dedicated thumb grip zone, which offers an immediate tactile reference point during use with gloves or in wet conditions. The tapered keylock nose eliminates protrusions that could unintentionally snag on rope loops, cords, or harnesses, a fundamental feature when working on crags with multiple quickdraws. The gate opening is wide and robust, sized to easily handle standard diameter ropes without requiring excessive force.
Recommended use
- Sport climbing on crags and top-rope
- Alpinism on mixed and ice routes
- Use as a rope-side quickdraw carabiner
The combination of smoothness in rope descent and the keylock nose makes the Ortles curved lever a solid choice for those looking for a reliable connector for everyday use, without compromising on clipping control.
