DESCRIPTION
The Petzl Spirit with curved gate is a locking carabiner specifically developed for sport climbing and multi-pitch routes, where the speed and safety of locking maneuvers make a real difference. The red color allows for immediate identification in the rack or on the route.
Technology and construction
The profile of the curved gate is designed to facilitate one-handed rope insertion, reducing effort during the most demanding sequences. The Keylock system eliminates the classic carabiner nose, replacing it with a smooth profile that prevents accidental clipping onto pitons, bolts, and belay anchors during belay transitions — a detail that greatly simplifies work on equipped routes.
- Opening: 24 mm, sufficient for quickdraws and standard belay stations
- Major axis strength: 23 kN
- Minor axis strength: 8 kN
- Open gate strength: 7 kN
- Weight: 36 g
- Certifications: CE EN 12275, UIAA
Practical use
At 36 grams, the Spirit falls into the lightweight carabiner category while maintaining standard dimensions: no compromises on ergonomics to reduce weight. It is the right choice for those who regularly visit crags and are looking for a reliable connector that is quick to handle and free from the operational drawbacks that slow down maneuvers on the wall.
