DESCRIPTION
The Kong HMS Classic Screw Sleeve is a pear-shaped aluminum locking carabiner featuring a screw lock and a Keylock nose. This wide-base asymmetrical geometry—known as the HMS shape—allows the belay knot (half hitch) to slide smoothly and securely, making it a reliable tool for both belaying partners and rope descents.
Technical features
The Keylock nose eliminates the hook-like protrusion found on traditional locking carabiners, reducing the risk of the connector snagging on ropes, harnesses, or anchors. The screw lock provides secure manual locking, making it suitable for situations requiring a long-lasting secure connection, such as fixed belay anchors. The carabiner is approved for use with all standard anchoring systems: it can be connected directly to a harness or integrated into an anchor station thanks to the versatile orientation options of the screw lock.
Uses and ideal applications
Thanks to the combination of the HMS shape and screw lock, this connector is particularly suitable for rock climbing, crag climbing, and gym climbing, as well as activities such as canyoning and via ferratas, where a reliable connection that can be visually checked is required. The polished aluminum finish helps keep the weight low without compromising the structural strength required by EN standards for safety connectors.
