DESCRIPTION
The Edelrid HMS Bulletproof Screw is an HMS screw-lock carabiner that solves one of the most common problems in intensive belay use: the progressive wear of the rope contact area. Edelrid's solution consists of an integrated steel insert at the apex, the area of the carabiner subject to the greatest friction during top-rope rappelling. Thanks to this reinforcement, the aluminum alloy of the main body is protected from abrasion, eliminating the formation of burrs and sharp edges that over time could damage the rope or make the carabiner unusable.
Construction and mechanism
The body is made of high-strength aluminum alloy, which guarantees a low weight compared to all-steel carabiners, while maintaining the mechanical performance necessary for belay and top-rope use. The locking system is a screw lock with Keylock mechanism: the beakless shape of the gate eliminates the risk of accidental hooking on quickdraws, webbing, or belay chains, making the locking and unlocking operations smoother even with gloves.
