DESCRIPTION
The Wild Country Zero Friend 0.4 is a four-cam friend designed to protect the most difficult-to-rig sections: narrow cracks, shallow pockets, and the typical scars left by pitons on historic routes and big walls. Size 0.4 covers an expansion range from 8.2 to 11.0 mm, making it a precise tool for situations where standard friends do not find purchase.
Construction and materials
The cams feature high-friction surfaces that maximize contact with the rock even on cracks with irregular or slightly polished walls. The narrow head profile allows insertion into spaces where wider geometries do not physically fit. The flexible stem reduces the risk of walking in horizontal or diagonal placements, keeping the friend in the optimal position after placement. The stem protection spring increases the durability of the assembly at points of maximum mechanical stress.
Ergonomics and handling
- Floating trigger mechanism with ergonomic design for controlled operation even with tired or gloved fingers
- Robust and durable construction designed for intensive use on alpine, trad, and big wall routes
- Compatible with traditional racks thanks to the standard carabiner gate
In situations where a single reliable protection makes the difference between continuing or giving up, the combination of a narrow head and high-friction cams makes the Zero Friend 0.4 one of the most reliable micro-friends for those who climb in traditional style on compact rock.
