DESCRIPTION
The Wild Country Zero Friend 0.1 is a triple-cam friend designed to protect the most technical sections of a route where standard devices don't fit: thin cracks, small-diameter pockets, and pin scars are its natural territory. With an expansion range between 7.5 and 11 mm, the 0.1 model reaches sizes that few other mechanical devices can reliably cover.
Construction and Technology
The narrow head allows insertion even into the most parallel and constricted cracks, while the high-friction cam faces ensure a stable grip on both wet and clean rock. The flexible stem reduces leverage on the anchor point when stressed from different angles, significantly increasing the reliability of protection on challenging sections. The spring-loaded stem protection prevents premature wear in the most stressed area, extending the device's lifespan.
Ergonomics and Practicality on the Wall
- The floating trigger mechanism adapts to the hand's morphology for quick placement even with cold or fatigued fingers
- The restoring design of the cams facilitates retrieval of the device even from deeply recessed placements
- Low weight, ideal for light racks on big walls and alpine routes with thin crack sections
It's the practical choice for those who frequent granite cracks, sandstone slabs with scars, or any wall where custom protection makes the difference between a protected route and an unacceptable runout.
