Wild Country Cam - 2.0 - Yellow is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
DESCRIPTION
The Wild Country Friend 2.0 is a four-cam device designed for solid protection in medium-sized cracks. A direct descendant of the device that revolutionized climbing in the late 1970s, it maintains the opposed cam geometry that utilizes the camming principle: the more load applied, the more the device expands and anchors itself to the rock.
Construction and Technical Data
The cams are made of high-strength aluminum alloy with an optimized camming angle to ensure stability over a wide expansion range. The rigid steel stem provides a direct attachment point for the carabiner, ideal in horizontal and oblique cracks where flexible stems can slip. The dual-lever trigger allows for precise compression of the cams even when the device is placed deep. The Friend 2.0's expansion range is from 37.2 mm to 64.0 mm, with a contained weight of around 119 g. The yellow color ensures quick identification of the size during route retrieval.
When to Use It
It is the benchmark size for parallel cracks of medium caliber, frequently found on classic granite and sandstone routes. It works reliably on compact rock, where the regularity of the crack enhances the uniform expansion properties of the cams. Suitable for both cragging on long routes and big walls, where the mechanical strength of the rigid stem becomes a tangible advantage over flexible stem versions in continuous horizontal placements.
