DESCRIPTION
The Black Diamond Camalot C4 in size 0.5 is one of the most recognizable and reliable dual-axle camming devices in the world of rock climbing. The current version has been completely redesigned from the previous model, with a weight saving of 10% while maintaining the same structural strength—a result achieved through sculpted and lightened cams, geometrically optimized to ensure maximum grip in cracks.
Technical Features
The Camalot C4 0.5 covers an expansion range of 13.8 to 19.6 mm, making it suitable for narrow cracks typical of technical crack climbing. The dual-axle cams—a patented Black Diamond technology—allow for a wider placement range compared to single-axle designs, reducing the risk of the cam "walking" inside the crack. The flexible coated steel stem absorbs dynamic loads and facilitates placement in irregular or slightly diagonal cracks. The trigger is ergonomic and repositioned to allow for a more natural grip even with gloves or in stressful situations.
When to use it
- Narrow cracks in granite, sandstone, or limestone
- Multi-pitch routes with close protection in thin cracks
- Traditional climbing where lightweight gear is crucial
With a certified strength of 14 kN, the Camalot C4 0.5 meets the requirements of CE regulations for personal protective equipment in mountaineering and climbing. It is a tool designed for those tackling challenging cracks with the need for secure and quick-to-place protection.
