DESCRIPTION
The Pieps Probe ALU 260 Sport is an aluminum avalanche probe designed for those getting into ski touring or snow hiking who want a reliable tool for rescue operations in the event of an avalanche burial. With a maximum length of 260 cm, it covers the average burial depth found in most avalanche accidents, making it suitable for recreational and semi-professional use.
Deployment and locking system
The heart of the probe is the Speed-Cone system, which allows you to pull out and lock the segments into the operating position in a single quick motion, drastically reducing deployment times when every second counts. The quick-locking device keeps the segments firmly in position during probing, preventing accidental slippage that could compromise the search or slow down operations.
Technical features
- Made of aluminum for a good balance of rigidity, lightness, and resistance to low temperatures
- Operating length: 260 cm
- Centimeter metric scale printed on the shaft to read the burial depth in real time and communicate the information to other rescuers
- Redesigned with a stable geometry that reduces vibrations when inserted into the snowpack
The centimeter scale also proves particularly useful for accurately communicating the detected depth to the rest of the rescue team, optimizing shovel excavation operations.
- Ski Touring
