DESCRIPTION
The Ortovox Probe ALU 240 PFA is an aluminum avalanche probe designed for emergency search situations where every second counts. With an operating length of 240 cm, it offers a probing depth suitable for most real-world burial scenarios, ensuring the necessary coverage without weighing down the ski touring kit.
PFA System and Construction
The PFA (Push-Fit-Action) tensioning system allows the probe to be deployed with a single quick and intuitive motion, even while wearing gloves. Compared to previous versions, the mechanism has been optimized to reduce transport bulk, making the probe more compact in the sleeve while maintaining the structural rigidity required during use. The aluminum construction ensures lightness and resistance to the stresses typical of use in compact or avalanche snow.
Practicality in the Field
- Operating length: 240 cm
- Material: aluminum for the right balance between weight and rigidity
- PFA opening system: quick one-handed deployment
- Compact format for storage in the ski touring backpack
The ALU 240 PFA is the right tool for those who ski tour, freeride, or winter hike in avalanche terrain and are looking for a reliable probe that is quick to deploy and easy to carry as an integral part of their avalanche rescue kit.
