DESCRIPTION
The Ortovox ALU 320+ PFA is an aluminum avalanche probe designed for search operations requiring greater penetration depth than standard models. With an operational length of 320 cm and the option for further extension, it covers deep burial scenarios where shorter probes cannot reach the victim.
Tensioning system and construction
At the heart of the design is the PFA (Positive Force Assembly) system, which ensures quick and secure locking of the segments when deployed: with a single pulling motion, the internal cable tightens and the sections lock into place, eliminating the play typical of screw-type probes. The segments are made of high-strength aluminum, which offers the right balance between structural rigidity and weight reduction during transport. The rubber grip ensures a firm hold even when wearing thick ski touring gloves.
