Size guide — SCARPA

SCARPA
Footwear Size Guide

All SCARPA footwear uses European sizing, with the exception of ski boots.

  • 1 full European size corresponds to 6.6 mm, or 0.26 inches.
  • 1 full US size corresponds to 8.4 mm, or 0.33 inches.
  • European sizes allow for a more precise fit suitable for the intended use.
  • Only ski mountaineering and telemark boots use MONDOPOINT sizing.

For mountaineering boots, choosing a half size larger may be useful depending on the desired fit.

For climbing shoes, choosing a smaller size, even by about one full size, depends on the desired fit. In other footwear, it is necessary to leave some space between the toes and the tip, as this is needed during walking. In climbing shoes, however, it is preferable to reduce empty spaces to increase sensitivity and precision during climbing.

All SCARPA ski mountaineering and telemark boots are measured using the Mondo system. SCARPA ski boots use half sizes: this means that a half size shares the same shell length as the next full size, while the inner boots are made for each half size.

For example, a size 25.5 and a 26.0 have the same shell size, but their respective inner boots are pre-formed for the half size. Some skiers may choose up to one full Mondo size smaller, based on their personal preferences.

DESCRIPTION

The Scarpa Rapid XT GTX is a leather approach shoe designed for those who move along fast-paced trails, mixed terrain, and mountain approaches without wanting to compromise on comfort and protection. Its clean design and streamlined profile also make it suitable for light hiking and trail hiking, covering a wide range of uses with a versatile aesthetic.

Technologies and materials

The leather upper guarantees sturdiness and abrasion resistance, while the all-around TPU rand protects the foot from side impacts and increases durability in the most stressed areas. The real technical innovation is the GORE-TEX ePE (expanded Polyethylene) membrane, a new-generation waterproof-breathable technology that maintains high waterproof and breathability performance with a significantly reduced environmental impact compared to traditional ePTFE membranes.

Sole and grip

The sole is composed of Vibram® MegaGrip, a high-friction compound recognized for its exceptional performance on both dry rock and wet terrain. This combination ensures reliable grip on variable surfaces, an essential quality during approaches on technical trails or wet scree.

  • Leather upper with structural reinforcements
  • Low-environmental-impact waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX ePE membrane
  • All-around TPU rand protection
  • Vibram® MegaGrip sole for grip on rock and mixed terrain
  • Suitable for approach, trail, and light hiking
