DESCRIPTION
The Atomic Backland 86 SL is a ski touring ski designed for those who tackle long mountain routes without compromising on downhill quality. Its design focuses on extreme lightness, achieved through a construction that minimizes unnecessary weight while maintaining a solid response on demanding terrain.
Technical construction and sustainability
Compared to the previous version of the Backland SL, this model reinterprets the original construction by incorporating low-carbon raw materials into the production process. The result is a 30% reduction in waste generated during production, a concrete figure that places this ski in the category of equipment with a reduced environmental impact without compromising performance. The inner core prioritizes lightweight materials that make the ski easier to handle during long ascents, reducing muscle fatigue over the course of a full day.
Versatility on snow
- 86 mm tip width underfoot, ideal for firm and spring snow but sufficient for tackling softer off-piste conditions
- Geometry optimized for smooth uphill progress with standard synthetic skins
- Responsive and predictable downhill performance, suitable for sustained speeds on variable slopes
- Designed for long trips and traverses where the overall weight of the equipment makes a difference from the very first steps
A practical choice for regular ski tourers looking for a tool that performs well on both ascents and descents, built with a more responsible production chain.
Fit
Available lengths: 179 cm. Atomic's ski touring recommendations: all-round skis approximately 5 cm shorter than your height, fast & light skis 5 to 10 cm shorter, freeride touring skis equal to your height or up to 5 cm longer. The shorter the ski, the more agile it is when turning around; the longer the ski, the more stable it is and the better it floats.
Pair with: Atomic Skin 85/86 Ski Touring Skins, Atomic Backland Tour Ski Touring Binding - Skistopper 90 mm, Atomic Backland Pro Men's Ski Touring Boot
